St. Patrick's Day Parade
St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin is a world famous celebration of Ireland and its people. The principal aim of St. Patrick's Festival, since its inauguration in 1995, is to develop a major annual international festival around the national holiday over which the Irish people would stand proud. It sets out to reflect the talents and achievements of Irish people on many national and world stages, and it acts as an exciting showcase for the manifold skills of the people of Ireland, including arts, music, cultural, film and comedy. Bands play a very important part in the St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Dublin, especially at the festival parade.Future St. Patrick's Festival dates:
2012: March 17Limerick International Band Parade and Competition
Each year marching bands from Ireland, the USA and Europe join Limerick's finest to showcase their musical prowess with adrenalin pumping music at the Limerick International Band Parade and Competition. This is Ireland's longest established International Band Parade, marking its 42nd year in 2012!
The Competition is usually held on the Sunday closest to the St. Patrick's Day festivities, allowing your band to enjoy the festivities of Ireland's national holiday and participate in both the Dublin St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Limerick International Band Parade and Competition.
The .93 mile long parade route winds its way through Limerick City Centre finishing at Arthur's Quay Park with a free concert to the public.
